Perimenopause and Menopause

It can be a very difficult time in a women’s life as she transitions through perimenopause and into menopause.

We don’t go through menopause we go into menopause.

Every woman should be able to choose what path she decides to take, many women find themselves unable to access support in relation to menopause.

Women can find themselves white knuckling it for many years. Help and support is available.

Women who come to me are looking for support in the choices they make for themselves.

The supports one woman needs can be very different to what another woman needs. It really isn’t a one cap fits all.

Trying to choose the right path can be very difficult as there is so much going on already in this stage of a woman’s life.

At Me Time Holistic we aim to help women to support themselves.

Perimenopause is where the changes begin and for many women, menopause can be where the abnormal becomes the normal, its where the changes have taken place and what can be left is an unlived unfulfilling life. This needs to change. Many women can find themselves feeling older than they are, wondering if they are depressed, CRAZY or losing their minds.

Hormone Replacement Therapy ~ Complimentary Therapy

There are many forms of HRT and it can take time to find the right balance, every woman is different.  If a woman chooses HRT the road can be a bit rocky.  Small changes can often help support and ease the transition.

BALANCE

There is a lot of information in the media about HRT and very little about self-care. HRT can do so much, but in conjunction with a good Self- Care plan/routine both work very well together.

What is Self-Care? Self-Care is just that Caring for Self.

Women have found that a good self-care routine can be the icing on the cake.

Self-Care helps us gain better understanding of what works and what we need.

At Me Time Holistic we aim to treat the whole person.

Tweaking Self-Care is as important as tweaking HRT.

Early Menopause: Before the age of 45

Myth: Menopause is 50+

Fact: there is no age on Menopause.

This category of women are the ones at most risk if left untreated and can suffer hugely.  Sometimes not listened to and told they are too young, and sometimes because of age just not aware that it could be Menopause.... I certainly

didn’t realise that’s what was happening to me.

Listening to your own body is key in menopause.

Menopause and Mental Health

Fact: Many women can experience a life changing crippling anxiety and or depression during Peri and Menopause.

Some women turn to alcohol to help them cope with the devasting effects of Peri and Menopause symptoms.

Some women feel they can't tell anyone.

Menopause and Sleep

Fact: Hot Flushes/Night sweats don't make for a good sleep.

Tossing and turning, up to use the bathroom a few times at night don't make for a good sleep. Putting in place small changes to help deal with the effects of an unsettled sleep.

There are huge knock on effects of poor sleep.

There are many hormones in our bodies but the three most effected by Menopause are: Progesterone, Estrogen and Testosterone.

·        Estrogen ~ It helps develop and maintain both the reproductive system and female characteristics. Estrogen contributes to cognitive health, bone health, the function of the cardiovascular system, and other essential bodily processes.

·        Progesterone ~ Protects the lining of the womb.  It also helps the nervous system and has a calming effect on the body. Brain, Heart, and bone protection. Helps with sleep.

·        Testosterone ~ Can help with Libido, mood energy, motivation, concentration. To put it in a nutshell it is the hormone that can transform a women’s journey.
